What is a long haul flight?
A long haul flight is usually considered a journey that is longer than 4 hours. If you get easily uncomfortable during a shorter flight, you will also benefit from these tips!
What to wear?
Loose clothing – there is nothing more uncomfortable than sitting in one spot for a long amount of time wearing tight clothes. Therefore you should consider wearing sweat pants. You can always change into something more fashionable before landing.
Warm socks – warm socks is a must. If you want to have warm feet and a comfort, take off your shoes and put on some warm socks. Choose natural materials like cotton so your feet won’t get sweaty.
Hoodie – I travel in a hoodie almost all the time. You will be comfortable, warm. You can always put on your hoodie, relax and the outside world won’t bother you.
Laptop – the flight crew will usually provide you with some in-flight entertainment system. Despite that, having your own laptop on board is a great way to get some work done or finish up the TV series you have been watching.
Kindle – I love reading on a plane. It is the one time I truly have time to do that, so I always read like crazy while flying. Getting an e-reader is a wise choice because it is lightweight and will fit into your carry-on.
Headphones – headphones is another thing that you will be provided with to use together with the in-flight entertainment system. These headphones are also a low quality and will hurt your ear in no time. The best headphones to use on the plane are the ones that cancel outside noise.
Sleeping pillow – it is a big must! If you are on a long haul flight you will definitely need some sleep. These sleeping pillows are saviors! I like this one that is convertible into two pillows – a neck pillow and a regular pillow.
Earplugs – you can buy ear plugs at any pharmacy or a drug store. For a good night sleep, ear plugs are a must. It is okay to use headphones to cancel the outside noise but if you want to enjoy some good night sleep, the headphones might get a bit uncomfortable. Earplugs are the way to go.
Blanket – some airlines will give you a blanket on a long haul flight, but remember, these were previously used by another customer flying before you and a lot of times the airplane crew will just fold them without washing them first. If you are a gym freak or wouldn’t feel good under such a blanket, bring your own.
Sleeping eye mask – the lights on the plane will be dimmed during the night. If you have sensitive eyes or your neighbors decide they want to read and turn they individual light on, it is a great to have a sleeping eye mask. You can choose from different designs and patterns.
Travel size cosmetics – You are allowed to bring a quart-sized bag of liquids, aerosols, gels, creams and pastes in your carry-on bag. These are limited to travel-sized containers that are 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) or less per item. Consider also buying travel sized containers so you can fill them up with your favorite beauty liquids and take these with you on board.
Make-up free – remove your makeup before sleeping using face wipes. You can do that while in your seat following with applying your moisturizer and eye cream.
Face mask – why not to use all the free time for some beauty rituals. You can use the bathroom as your little spa, put on some face mask sheet that will give your face some moisture. The airplane air condition is very harsh and drying on your skin.
Brush your teeth – feel fresh by brushing your teeth. You can always bring a small toothpaste and a toothbrush with you. After you had your in-flight meal or when you wake up from your sleeping, brushing your teeth will help you feel refreshed.
